Is #Google scanning my #Picasa pics to target my #Gmail ads?

What an appropriate ad for a balding male based in Blackrock…

Ad reads: "Hair Restoration Ireland - HairRestoration.ie/BlackrockClinic - The Only Qualified Hair Restoration Surgeon in Ireland

Particulary if that person has commented on only ONE of the photos of himself on Picasa - and that photo happens to be this one:

Voting in Dublin (special votes 15 Apr, National Election in South Africa on 22 Apr)

While I am very happy to report that I voted in the SA National Elections earlier today I am still disappointed that only 16 240 people living abroad succeeded to register for the election when there are estimates of between 500k and 1M South Africans living in the UK alone. My comments on Facebook offended a number of people who said the registration period was too short, that registration forms were lost etc. I accept that the situation is far from perfect but still believe that if even half the South Africans living in the UK bothered to attempt registration we may have seen a possible postponement of the election date and a more balanced and healthier democracy.

Note the ink on my thumb - one of the high-security features associated with voting in the SA elections... My voting motto has always been "vote early and vote often" but alas...

Easter videos 2009: Pig on a Spit and DIY Pizza Oven

We were fortunate to spend Easter at Woodville farm with our good friends David and Hannah. On Saturday the entire Naas congregation descended on the farm for a Pig Roast. We found it a bit strange at first to see a Pig on the spit as we would be more accustomed to having sheep on a spit. Nonetheless, we had a great feast, and David took on board my recommendation of getting proper hardwood charcoal for the fire. Somehow he managed to get hold of about 20 bags of Namibian Charcoal!

The Pig Roast

On the Sunday a smaller group, mainly close relatives of David and Hannah, baked pizzas in a home-made pizza oven. It was built using mud and clay off the farm. I'm definitely trying this when I'm back in SA. The pizza was excellent of course...

Not a pretty picture
